The Kuwait Handball Association announced that Kuwait will host the 2026 Asian Handball Championship, which will begin on January 26, 2026, with the participation of most of the continent's countries.
Kuwait's bid to host the championship received approval from the Executive Office of the Asian Handball Federation, with unanimous voting in favor, granting Kuwait the honor of hosting the event. The top four teams in the championship will qualify for the 2026 Handball World Cup in Germany.
On this occasion, the Secretary-General of the Kuwait Handball Association, Qaed Al-Adwani, stated that organizing the 2026 Asian Handball Championship is a great honor for the officials and a significant leap for Kuwaiti handball. He emphasized that the Federation, along with the Public Authority for Sports, is fully prepared to deliver a tournament that meets expectations.
Al-Adwani expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and the Acting Director-General of the Public Authority for Youth, Bashar Abdullah, for their unwavering support of the Kuwait Handball Association and their assistance in securing the honor of hosting the 2026 Asian Handball Championship. He emphasized his commitment to raising Kuwait's flag in international forums.
For his part, Talal Al-Otaibi, a member of the Kuwait Handball Association’s Board of Directors and a member of the Arab Handball Federation, stated that Kuwait's unanimous selection to host the 2026 Asian Handball Championship is a testament to the confidence that the Asian Handball Federation has in Kuwait’s ability to organize such a prestigious event. This championship will be a pivotal moment for Kuwaiti handball.
Al-Otaibi also pointed out that the support from Minister Al-Mutairi and the Acting Director-General of the Public Authority for Youth was instrumental in the success of Kuwait's bid, expressing his thanks and the gratitude of the handball officials in Kuwait for their support.
