Kuwait’s Burgan Club achieved a historic milestone by winning the Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship for the first time in the club’s history, following an exceptional debut appearance in the 28th edition of the tournament. Burgan secured the title after a thrilling 34-32 victory over Saudi Arabia’s Al Khaleej in extra time, after the regular time of the final ended in a 27-27 draw. The final was held this evening at the handball arena of Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. With this remarkable achievement, Burgan officially qualified for the IHF Men’s Super Globe Egypt 2026, marking a proud new chapter for Kuwaiti handball. Al Khaleej finished as runners-up for the second consecutive time, while Qatar’s Al Duhail claimed third place after defeating host club Kuwait 36-34 in the third-place playoff. The coronation ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Youth and Sports Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma, Asian Handball Federation President Bader Al-Thiyab, Kuwait Club Honorary President Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanim, and Burgan Club President Anwar Al-Otaibi. Medals were presented to the top three teams before the championship trophy was handed to Burgan captain Mohammad Al-Olayan.
